Abilities: fires lasers from her gem eye, scan and analyze, enhanced speed, durability, and jumping, and shape-shifting
Personality: calculative, analytical, can be cold and sinister, clever, not fond of aristocrats, believing politics get in the way of the big picture.  Despite striving for progress, Paraiba doesn't strive for it at the cost of her fellow gems that work for her, however is more than willing to step on her rivals and enemies.
relations: for thousands of years, Paraiba has had a quartz soldier named Carnelian as additional muscle, but after many battles, the two have developed a strong sense of respect and comradry for each other that they both accidentally fused.  They both keep this a secret and only fuse when no one is watching

Bio:
Paraiba is a homeworld Tourmaline gem, skilled in analytics, science, research, and leadership.  As an administrator, Paraibra is a manager in charge of a division of technicians and thinkers whose goal is to research and develop new technologies for homeworld and lead expeditions to other worlds and study them to determine their value, even has skills in military tactics.  Respected and feared, Paraiba has a strong career over the course of thousands of years of service to her diamond, Yellow Diamond, finding worlds for colonization, creating new technologies for the military, even created writing and theories that are being studied by others, however the ones she believes in the most to be true are the ones many of her peers dismiss.

The Earth Mission
When Earth was discovered, Paraiba was sent under orders by Yellow Diamond herself to begin an R&D division on the planet to uncover the planet's potential.  Paraiba would call it the most promising flop in gem history.  While the first hundred years yielded promising developments, everything would come to a halt when the Gem War on earth started.  In time, other diamonds would take her away from her developments to assist in the war, even going as far as to turn her research compound into a prison and make her and her Quartz soldier bodyguard the wardens, forcing her to conduct experiments and interrogate rebel prisoners.  Though Paraiba has little to no sympathy in her for her enemies, the fusion experiments, shattering gems and fusing their shards together, made her uncomfortable.  Such research would put her on the cluster project, fusing millions of shards together.  In time, her compound would be attacked by rebels seeking to free POWs.  After a successful evacuation, Paraiba would be ordered to fire her ships main cannon and destroy the research on gem fusion and kill all the prisoners, making Paraiba's name infamous to the surviving rebels.

Now:
Over 5,000 years after the failed earth colony, Paraiba continues her research and expeditions.  With the Earth gaining spotlight once again, Paraiba now seeks to convince the diamonds to reconsider reviving the Earth Mission and fix homeworld's resource crisis.
